Why Choose a Timing Chain Kit?

The timing chain synchronizes the movements of the camshaft and crankshaft, opening and closing the engine's valves at the correct time. It is also responsible for the correct positioning of the connecting rods, pistons and the camshaft. It's a crucial component of the engine, a system that is very delicate and needs regular replacement to ensure its longevity.
It is important to choose a quality kit when replacing the chains in order to avoid expensive problems and potential engine failure. These kits include the following components: camshaft and crankshaft sprockets, camshaft and crankshaft chains, tensioners and guides. The kits are CAD designed and manufactured using premium materials to provide a quiet, maintenance-free operation.
In a typical engine, the chain is driven by a set of gears and pulleys that allow it to rotate freely. However, the system can only be run while the crankshaft and camshaft are in the correct position. The engine will shut down if these two components are not in sync.
Replacing a timing chain is a job for an experienced mechanic and not something for the home garage. It can take a good amount of time and requires the removal of many engine parts, such as the intake manifold, oil pan and radiator. In addition, the timing belt, oil pump and crankshaft must be removed to gain access to the timing chain area.
A timing chain kit will replace all of these items at once, making the job much easier and faster. Before starting to remove these components, it is best to drain the vehicle's oil and coolant and remove any coolant hoses that may restrict access to the chain cover. Once the engine is cool, it is possible to unbolt the timing chain cover, and once this has been done, it is recommended that you refer to the owner's manual for specifications.
Once the new timing chain is installed, it is important to ensure that the crankshaft and camshaft are at top dead centre. To do this, the kit contains a tool that locks the camshaft and crankshaft to prevent them from moving when the cover is removed. Once the camshaft and crankshaft are locked, the kit can be removed from the engine, and the new components can be installed. It is important that the engine is fully cooled and dry before installing a new one, and it is also recommended that you use an engine assembly lube when fitting the new components.
